Do I Need to Wear Make-up to Attract Guys?

15-year-old Maria writes:

Hello Chauntel!

I love your channel and I just wanted you to know that you are amazing :) So. i wanted to ask you a question: I see all these girls  when i go out (Saturday night) and they all wear so much make up and I am wondering, do i have to do the same? I mean I feel beautiful without make up on, but all guys somehow get attracted to that.  And I am wondering if the guy i like, loves make up on women. Any advice?

Hi Maria!

I am so glad that you asked this question. It is near and dear to my heart. Before I answer your question, I wanted to thank you for your kind words.

Now, for the good stuff. Make-up is suppose to be used to enhance your natural beauty. However, it absolutely, positively, NOT necessary for you to wear it. You should not feel pressured to wear make-up to attract a guy.

In fact, a lot of guys that I know don't like make-up because they see it as a "mask". The women that they witness wearing it, look like two different people, haha. One with it, and one without it.

To attract a guy, you need to have confidence. If you'd like you can add a bit of gloss to lips and a bit of eye shaddow to bring out your eyes. Those are the two focal points that guys pay close attention too.

Your hair and your scent are probably the most important things to think about when considering attracting a man. A little make up can go a long way, but don't over due it.

Thanks,

Chauntel

Black Hair Twists

17-year-old Jazzy from the US writes:

My bangs are all frizzy. my mom is Guatemalan and my dad is from Africa. so my hair is really hard to tame. i don't want to put a weave in because the last time i did it damaged my hair like BADLY. its also hard straighten it. it just looks weird and greasy and its all damaged. the relaxer doesn't help at all. i love my hair when its curly, its just soo pretty! but when i put moose in it, it looks pretty at first, but when its like dry it looks all short! its just horrible! i want it to be curly! and when i have gym 5th period i have to go the whole rest of the day with frizzy bangs! i just want my hair to look pretty even after gym, throughout the school day and maybe for the weekend. please help! :]THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!

Hello Jazzy,

I completely understand. Hair, especially black hair can be difficult to deal with. Since you have naturally curly hair, sport it. The natural look is in. One thing you might want to consider is twists. You can do this by buying afro-textured hair.

If you allow your natural hair to breathe, and get a professional trim, to cut your split ends, your hair will become more healthy. Putting a lot of heat in your hair can damage it. Make sure that your hair stays moist. Dry hair is more likely to break. Also, drinking water and taking vitamins will help your hair to become healthy.

By monitoring your nails and skin you can monitior the healthiness of your hair. So sport that natural look girl. Don't worry about it looking short. It is yours! However, if you get twists you can add the hair to make it longer. By the way, to keep it up make sure to wrap it with a scarf before you go to bed!

You can either go with your natural look, or try something different by trying the twists. I have actually considred getting twists myself. We will see how that goes!

I hope That Helps!

How do I dress like a Rocker Chick and Still be a Trendsetter?

Maggs writes:

Heyyy Chauntel,

I saw your fashion video and I agree with a lot of the things but I am a "rocker chick". I dress in the emo/scene/punk/goth/rocker/sk8r/etc. style and I wear A LOT of mini skirts, colourful/bright/graphic tees and patterned tights. I love converse and sk8 shoes and combat boots but I still want to be some what fashionable. Can you gimme advice on this?

Hello Maggs,

It's all about the accessories you choose.

Add a trendy item to your style. For example although graphic tees are already "in" if you add a scarf with it that will make it trendy.

Mini skirts are in so you are good with that.

Since you like boots. Try more trendy types. For example fringes are in this season. So you could choose boots that have fringes.

Chunky jewelry is also in! If you grab some chunky jewelry and add it to your wardrobe for the summer season!

You don't have to change your style to be trendy. It's all about what accessories you choose to jazz up your wardrobe.
I hope this helps,
